A forklift lease payment doesn’t tell you what the agreement will cost. Two offers can cover the same truck and still leave you with different repair obligations, operating-hour limits and end-of-term bills. The useful comparison starts with the written terms, before anybody asks for a signature.
Ask for the exact truck configuration, lease length, payment schedule and any deposit or advance payment. The proposal should identify capacity, mast, attachments, battery or engine, tires and included charger. Check the delivery charge and when billing begins. Our forklift buyer’s guide helps establish the equipment specification first.
Then compare forklift lease terms explained alongside the provider’s actual agreement. Don’t assume that a salesperson’s email changes the signed contract.
Separate routine service from repairs, tires, batteries and accidental damage. A maintenance package might cover scheduled visits while excluding major components. Ask who dispatches technicians, where they travel and whether a replacement truck is available during an extended repair.
Review the site’s maintenance contract FAQ to frame your questions. For an electric truck, battery replacement and charger support need explicit answers; they can materially change the budget.
Comparing monthly payments? Request forklift lease pricing with the same hours, term and service requirements for every provider.
Check the allowed hours, how usage is measured and the excess-hour rate. Ask whether unused hours carry forward and when usage is reconciled. A seasonal warehouse shouldn’t assume that a quiet month cancels out its busiest month.
Give providers your realistic shift pattern rather than the lowest possible estimate. The buy or lease FAQ can help you compare leasing with ownership when hours are uncertain.
Identify the purchase option, renewal process and notice deadline. Ask whether the buyout is fixed or established later, who pays return freight, and how wear or missing accessories are assessed. Photograph the truck and retain service records throughout the term.
No. Maintenance is included only if the agreement says so. Get the covered work, exclusions and response arrangements in writing.
That depends on the agreement. Ask for the early-exit calculation and any transfer option before signing; returning the truck doesn’t necessarily end payment obligations.
If you’re comparing local support, start with our forklift dealer locations and confirm coverage for your facility. Choose an agreement whose service and return terms fit the work, rather than stretching your budget around the smallest advertised payment.
