How much does forklift maintenance cost annually?

Request a Maintenance Scope Before Comparing the Price

There is no reliable annual maintenance figure for every forklift. A low-hour electric warehouse truck, high-use internal-combustion forklift and rough-terrain machine have different service needs. Age, operating hours, dust, heat, cold, floor or terrain, attachment use and existing condition all affect cost.

Ask each provider to state the preventive-maintenance interval, labor and travel charges, inspection items, fluids and planned parts. Confirm whether tires, forks, chains, brakes, battery, charger, engine, emissions components and attachments are included or billed separately.

The proposal should also list emergency labor rates, after-hours charges, parts markup, response expectations and exclusions. Track downtime and repeat repairs alongside invoices. The least expensive service plan is not the best value if it omits the work or response the operation needs.

What should buyers verify?

  • Service interval and inspection scope
  • Labor, travel, fluids and planned parts
  • Battery, charger or engine coverage
  • Tires, forks, chains and attachment exclusions
  • Emergency rates and response expectations
